Renée Kalkman

Renée is eighteen years old and competes at the FEI one star/ intermediate level in the sport of three-day eventing.
She has been drawn to horses ever since she could walk, and started English riding lessons at the age of seven. By the age of nine she was introduced to eventing. She took a strong liking to the sport and it did not take long for her to begin setting goals and planning my future in the sport, with the help of her main supporter - her dad.
“My dad and I have - as a team - forever been chasing the goal of me riding a 4* in Lexington, KY before I reach the age of 21. This is a goal that I have set out for myself with full awareness that it is a challenge and it requires a proper plan with capable horses. Since the age of nine, with the help of my dad, I have been competing and training horses from green-broke to competition level at my parents farm located in Fort.StJohn.B.C. I have competed in show jumping up to 1.30m, dressage shows up to 2nd level and three day eventing up to the intermediate level. I have successfully produced five horses from never having evented through to the intermediate level. This includes an Arab-cross pony, Canadian Warmblood and three off the track Thoroughbreds. I am currently competing two of my Thoroughbreds, Qupid and Charlie, who are both proving to have potential for the upper levels.”
Renée will be travelling to California this fall to get intermediate and FEI one star qualifications in place so that she can move into the FEI two star level with them in the spring of 2019.
